The first thing that must be done by most people who come to Pulau Weh is to go to Zero Kilometer or Kilometer Zero Monument (0 km from Indonesia). The location of this place is approximately 30 kilometers from the center of Sabang, or about an hour's drive with an uphill road and surrounded by large trees.

There is an assumption that it is incomplete to go to Sabang if you do not visit the Indonesian Zero Kilometer Monument. Sabang in the west and Merauke in the eastern part of Indonesia often resonates in many national ceremonies. Indeed both are used in national song lyrics, the song "From Sabang to Merauke". The existence of Tugu has become a popular tourist attraction in Sabang.

Previously the Kilometer Zero Monument was not maintained and a group of monkeys welcomed guests. Travelers even have to be thirsty because nobody sells soft drinks. Exhaustion of visitors will finally feel good while enjoying the view of the sunset on the Malacca Strait.

But now, a new Zero Kilometer (KM 0) or Zero Kilometer Indonesia Monument has been built. This monument is built more grand and large and there are no more hordes of naughty monkeys. And the letter for "Zero Indonesian Kilometers" stands in front of the monument. This writing is similar to what was found at Losari Beach in Makassar.

On holidays or weekends, many tourists visit the Kilometer Zero Monument and take pictures while pointing at the Indonesian Zero Kilometer letter as the background. This monument is very photogenic. Indeed, the monument with a height of 43.6 meters is still bewitching visitors.

In addition to the photogenic Zero or Zero Kilometer Monument, there is another most interesting thing about this monument, the "guard monument". Here the guard is not human but a cute, tame and adorable "Boar" named "Broni". This Boar (Broni) is tame with visitors and sometimes visitors feed him.

After watching and taking a photo on the Zero Kilometer Monument, visitors can enjoy drinks in stalls along the street lip. Some stalls also sell authentic souvenirs from Sabang, such as t-shirts and cakes.

Indonesia's Zero Kilometer Monument was inaugurated by Vice President Try Sutrisno in September 1997. The road to Tugu is rather quiet. But you will enter a protected forest area that is quite refreshing.

Finally, visitors will get a certificate as proof that they have visited the Kilometer Zero monument in Sabang from the Sabang City Culture and Tourism Office.
